No Wizard, Robin Hood Trailer, and new from r-patz

So I’ve been all worried ever since I heard there might be a Warner Bros remake of the Wizard of Oz–come on, isn’t it enough to strike fear into YOUR heart? But then I read the update to this article, in which someone who knows kindly assures us that there are no plans to go down the yellow brick road again soon. ‘soon’ meaning in the next year; Warner still has the rights to the movie and might think about it sometime, you know the drill. SO–everyone calm down and take your 3-d glasses off, we won’t be off to see the wizard any time soon.

In other news, a new Robin Hood trailer was released the other day, you can watch it here or below. This one finally fills in some of the plot that the others were lacking, and I have to say it looks a little more complex than I first thought–in a good way!

So on the other end of the genre spectrum is R-patz’s new movie Remember Me. It garnered mixed reviews all around, but this trailer was enough to turn me off from a couple hours watching r-patz be angsty face-y. I think New Moon had enough of those to last a lifetime and a half. but hey–go ahead and watch the trailer if you missed it. or if you like inflicting unnecessary pain on yourself.

Pirates 4

It was announced earlier today that Ian McShane might be appearing in the 4th Pirates installment as Blackbeard.

Yeah, he sort of looks like a Blackbeard to me already….

So now with the addition of this interesting character, along with previously announced Penelope Cruz…is it just me or is the thought of Pirates 4 sucking less?

It was just announced that Chris Hemsworth will be taking up the hammer in 2011′s Thor.

Do you recognize this pretty face? You might have seen him being awesome in the first scene of last summer’s Star Trek:

That’s right, Chris played George Kirk, who was a Starfleet Captain for 12 minutes and saved 800 lives…I’m sure you know the story.

Anyway, Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh, a man who has more acting experience than directing but I can live with that. He played Major General Henning Von Tresckow in Valkyrie, someone minor in The Boat that Rocked, aaaannnnd Professor Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

OH P.S. Did I mention that Chris Hemsworth’s little brother Liam is dating Miley Cyrus???

A Captain Blood Remake??

I haven’t even seen the 1935 version, which I feel quite sheepish about, because it stars my MOST FAVORITE Robin Hood-Maid Marian duo Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland!

Also, according to imdb the tagline reads: THE MOST MAGNIFICENT & THRILLING SEA ADVENTURE EVER FILMED

Ok now that I’ve convinced you of the original’s worth, back to the remake: it takes place in space. Yes.

Well, the script is currently being worked on, but that’s the idea. You know, space pirates…or something…(Space Cowboys?) The project is helmed by Australian filmmakers Micheal and Peter Spierig, who most recently directed Daybreakers, a sci-fi flick that I will refrain from pretending to know anything about…if it helps, the imdb plot keywords are “Vampire”, “Blood”, “Plague”, “Scar”, and “Shot through wall”…hahaa.

Here they are, courtesy imdb. I don’t really know why you need the picture, but I saw this and it looks soooo familiar! I don’t know why. Maybe I just spend too much time at imdb?? possible.

I just love filmmaking duos...

So I’m just going to go ahead and throw it out there: I’m kind of nervous for this. It could go so, so wrong….Pete and Mike I hope you know what you’re doing.

P.S. When I see the original Captain Blood I will report back. In the mean time, what do you think: New Captain Blood Yay or Nay? Who would you like to see starring in this?

For a looooong time I’ve been wanting to do a post on costumes and how wonderful they are…Haha! I mean movie-inspired fashion, you know! Whether or not you’re the type of person to notice character’s clothes (I am!), they add to the authenticity and cohesiveness of a film. So shoot me with some comments–Who’s style do you really love? What movie wardrobe do you covet?

Ok, seen anything about this? Movies based on comic books are like a BIG DEAL in Hollywood. Obviously there’s the Superman and Batman movies, and more recently Watchmen and the Green Lantern from DC comics; then there’s Blade, the Incredible Hulk, and X-men from Marvel comics. WELL, The Losers is based on a DC comic about a special-ops team betrayed…(gasp!) Seriously though, I’m liking the way it looks.

I’ve been a fan of Zoe Saldana since her Center Stage days, so I’m super excited to see her in this plus her character totally kicks ass, as you can see!

Here she is being a totally smokin' hot Nyota Uhura in Star Trek...

You may also recognize Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Watchmen (or Grey’s Anatomy–anyone?) but I have to admit he won my heart in P.S. I love you…ANYWAY check out the trailer and tell me your thoughts.

Oscar Nom nom noms….

Hello awards season! you snuck up on me again, dirty little bastard. Since I was too busy being a loser and whatnot, I didn’t see many of the nominated movies. You can look at the list here. I only have one major opinion, and that is if Christoph Waltz isn’t recognized for his supporting actor performance in Inglourious Basterds, I may have to scalp someone (haha, get it? get it? …nvm).

He seriously made my skin crawl with his Nazi creepy-ness. I’m pulling for Basterds to win in Best Screenplay, too. As for Best Picture, I generally make no predictions, because I’m almost always wrong!!

But tell me what you’re thinking. Do you guys think Avatar will win it or will Cameron’s ex-wifey get the last laugh with her Hurt Locker?
